What each system costs, where each one wins, and when you should buy from somebody else.
DockLife sells modular HDPE cube docks at about $105 per cube installed in Florida; Candock's comparable system runs about $138 per cube. On a documented May 2026 job of 93 cubes plus two PWC ports, DockLife quoted 30.5% less than Candock Central Florida for the same structure.
That is the clean, checkable part of the comparison. EZ Dock, Jet Dock and Dock Blocks do not publish prices online, so anyone telling you how they compare on cost without a quote in hand is guessing. What we can compare across all five is how the systems work, who installs them, what decking is available, and how easily the dock can be changed later. On one of those measures — installation coverage outside Florida — the other three beat us outright, and we say so below.
A modular cube dock is built from individual rotomolded polyethylene floats that lock to each other. Each float is a sealed, air-filled block with molded interlocking ears; a pin drops through the ears and joins two cubes together. Add cubes and the dock gets bigger. Remove cubes and it gets smaller. There is no frame to weld, no stringers to cut, and no pilings driven into the bottom, so the whole structure rides on the water and rises and falls with it.
The DockLife cube covers 2.691 square feet of surface, sits on a 500 mm pitch, and carries 220 pounds of flotation. It is rotomolded HDPE and UV stabilized. Those numbers are worth writing down, because they are how you translate any vendor's quote into a comparable figure: cube count times coverage gives you square footage, and cube count times flotation gives you the buoyancy you are actually buying.
Every system in this comparison is a variation on that idea. Candock builds a directly comparable cube system. EZ Dock uses larger molded sections joined with flexible couplers rather than small cubes. Jet Dock is best known for drive-on watercraft ports built from the same molded float family. Dock Blocks sells a cube system through dealers. The core material is HDPE in all cases, which is why none of us can honestly claim the material outlasts the others.
DockLife prices flotation per cube — about $105 per cube in Florida, with delivery and professional installation included in that number. Decking, if you want it, is Trex Enhance Basics at $21 per framed square foot. Jet ski ports are priced as finished products, $1,898 to $2,698, with free Florida delivery and optional installation at $200. Payment is 50% to schedule and 50% on completion. Candock also prices per cube on its comparable system, at about $138. Because the unit of measure matches, that is the one apples-to-apples number available in this category, and it is the basis for the 30.5% difference on the May 2026 job referenced above.
EZ Dock, Jet Dock and Dock Blocks quote through dealers and do not publish list pricing. That is a legitimate way to sell — a dealer quote can account for your site in ways a web price cannot — but it does mean you have to collect quotes to compare. When you do, normalize them: ask what the quote covers (flotation only, or flotation plus hardware, decking and labor), and ask for the float count so you can divide.
This is where we lose. DockLife installs in Florida only. Inside Florida that is a strength: our own crew does the work, delivery is included, installation is included in dock and platform prices, and we know the statute and the local review process. Outside Florida we ship kits, freight is quoted per destination, and you or your contractor receives and assembles the dock. There is no DockLife crew coming to your lake in Michigan.
EZ Dock, Jet Dock and Dock Blocks all run national dealer networks. That gives all three of them broader out-of-state installation coverage than DockLife has. If you are outside Florida and you want somebody to show up, put the dock in the water and hand you the keys, they can do that in far more places than we can. This is DockLife's main disadvantage outside Florida and it is not close.

Bare cube tops are textured and perfectly usable, and plenty of docks never get decked. Where DockLife differs is that we offer Trex Enhance Basics composite decking, framed and fastened by our crew, at $21 per framed square foot in Florida. We only use Trex Enhance Basics and we never use wood — wood on a floating dock means splinters, annual sealing and eventual rot on a structure whose whole point is not needing maintenance.
Because decking is part of our own install labor, it is Florida-only. Out-of-state kits ship as bare cube product. If you are outside Florida and you want a decked surface, you or your contractor can frame and deck it locally, and dealers for the other systems may offer decked packages in your area. Compare what you are getting: a decked square foot and a bare square foot are not the same purchase.
Every system here shares the biggest advantage of the category: nothing is permanent. Cubes unpin. Sections separate. A dock can be lengthened next season, reshaped around a new boat, walked to a different spot on the shoreline, or pulled entirely and stacked on shore before ice.
Small-cube systems like DockLife's and Candock's are the most granular — you can change a layout a few square feet at a time, which matters when you are fitting an existing seawall or working around a neighbor's riparian line. Larger-section systems assemble faster because there are fewer pieces to pin, but you reconfigure in bigger increments. Neither is better in the abstract; it depends on whether your shoreline is simple or awkward.

Buy from EZ Dock, Jet Dock or Dock Blocks if you are outside Florida and you want turnkey installation. Their dealer networks cover territory we do not. Paying more for a system that arrives installed and warranted by somebody an hour from your house is a rational decision, and if that is your situation we would rather tell you now than sell you a pallet you have to figure out.
Buy from a dealer local to you if you value having a person nearby for service, seasonal removal, storm prep or reconfiguration. We do that work in Florida. We cannot do it on your lake in Tennessee.
Buy from Candock if their local dealer offers something specific you need — a site visit, a financing arrangement, a delivery window — that is worth the price difference to you. The per-cube gap is real, but price is not the only thing anyone buys on.
Buy from DockLife if you are in Florida, or if you are outside Florida and comfortable receiving and assembling a kit. In Florida you are getting the lowest documented per-cube price in this comparison with delivery and professional installation already in it, plus a decking option the kit-only route does not give you.
