Dock Gangway Installation in Central Florida
A gangway connects your shoreline to your floating dock with a safe, stable walkway. As water levels change — and they change a lot on Central Florida lakes — the gangway adjusts its angle so you always have a smooth transition from land to dock. Docklife installs aluminum gangways throughout Central Florida.
Why You Need a Gangway
Without a gangway, getting onto a floating dock means stepping down from the bank, which can be steep, muddy, or unstable. In Florida, lake levels can drop several feet during dry season and rise quickly during summer rains. A gangway bridges this gap safely regardless of water level.
Gangways are especially important for families with children, older adults, and anyone with mobility challenges. The handrails provide support, and the non-slip surface gives solid footing even when wet from morning dew or afternoon rain.
Our Gangway Systems
Docklife gangways are built with aluminum frames and non-slip decking. Aluminum is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and strong — perfect for Florida's humid, salt-laden air. We size and price each gangway for your shoreline conditions on lakes like Lake Butler, Lake Down, and Lake Tibet.
We offer several width options. Our standard width accommodates comfortable single-person walking. Wider gangways are available for ADA compliance or high-traffic commercial installations.
ADA-Compliant Gangways
For public facilities, HOA amenities, and commercial docks, ADA compliance may be required. Our ADA-compliant gangways meet federal guidelines for slope, width, handrail height, and edge protection. We configure the gangway length based on your specific water level range to maintain proper slope ratios throughout the year.
Installation Process
The gangway mounts to a fixed point on shore — typically a concrete pad, a set of posts, or an existing bulkhead. The dock end rests on or attaches to the floating dock with a hinge that allows the gangway to pivot as the dock rises and falls.
Installation typically takes one to two hours. We anchor the shore end, position the gangway, attach the dock end, and adjust the hardware. Our team handles the full installation for Central Florida customers.
Gangway Options and Accessories
Handrails come standard on all our gangways. Additional options include transition plates (to smooth the step from gangway to dock), kick plates (for edge protection), and custom lengths for unusual shoreline conditions.
For properties with very steep banks — common on sinkholes lakes in Winter Garden, Gotha, and Oakland — we offer extended-length gangways with intermediate support points.
Pairs with Any Docklife Dock
Our gangways are designed to connect with all Docklife floating dock systems. The hinge hardware matches our cube dimensions and connects securely. If you are adding a gangway to an existing dock, we make sure the interface is solid and safe.
